The school’s total enrollment stood at 1,341 for the same school year. African American students accounted for 10% of the overall student population, making them the second-largest group at the school.

Of the four schools in the Jefferson City School District, Jefferson High School had the highest number of African American students enrolled in 2024-25, totaling 134.
According to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report, more than 1.7 million students attended Georgia public schools. The largest enrollment was seen in elementary grades with 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by 388,733 in middle schools (22.7%), and 539,092 in high school grades (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism is still a significant challenge for Georgia schools in the post-pandemic period, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. GaDOE responded with a statewide plan including a real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness outreach, and additional support for districts with greater needs to raise daily attendance rates.
In 2025, state legislators approved changes to Georgia’s attendance laws, prohibiting expulsion solely based on absences. The new law adds reporting mandates and supports programs aiding students in earning diplomas through alternative means.
