Jackson County schools name support persons and teachers of year for 2025

The Jackson County School System has announced its 2025 Support Persons and Teachers of the Year. Each of the district’s 13 schools selected one Support Person and one Teacher of the Year, while the Central Office also named a Support Person of the Year.

A total of 27 individuals have been recognized as honorees. These include both school-level winners and the Central Office selection. In addition, three finalists for Bus Driver of the Year will be announced in the coming weeks.

All honorees, along with the bus driver finalists, will be recognized at a private banquet scheduled for September. At that event, district-wide winners for both categories will be announced.

The list of school-level honorees is as follows:

East Jackson Elementary School: Pamela Richardson (Teacher of the Year), Kara Mawdesley (Support Person of the Year)

Gum Springs Elementary School: Krissy Landers (Teacher), Haley Meier (Support Person)

Heroes Elementary School: Kelly McAbee (Teacher), Jodi Sears (Support Person)

Maysville Elementary School: Gay Chandler (Teacher), Audily Nunez (Support Person)

North Jackson Elementary School: Sherri Jackson (Teacher), Brittany Peevy (Support Person)

South Jackson Elementary School: Scott McCall (Teacher), Scott Bess (Support Person)

West Jackson Elementary School: Michelle Kubiak (Teacher), Patricia Gerald (Support Person)

East Jackson Middle School: Stephanie Harrison (Teacher), Joanna Bost (Support Person)

Legacy Knoll Middle School: Kristin Butkovich (Teacher), Megan McCoy (Support Person)

West Jackson Middle School: Courtney Campbell (Teacher), Susan McDaniel (Support Person)

East Jackson High School: Bucky Sorrow (Teacher), Lauren Kemp (Support Person)

Empower College & Career Center: Joshua Darnell (Teacher), Rebecca Warren (Support Person)

Jackson County High School: Brooke Curtis (Teacher), April Bagwell (Support Person)

Central Office: Angela Brooks was named Support Person of the Year.

The recognition program highlights staff contributions across all levels within the school system. The upcoming banquet will serve to honor their achievements and announce overall district winners.
