The Jackson County Board of Education has been recognized as an Exemplary Board by the Georgia School Boards Association for the third year in a row. This recognition is the highest level within the association’s program.

The award highlights the board’s ongoing commitment to effective governance and its collaboration with Superintendent Dr. Philip Brown. The board’s efforts focus on continuous improvement, transparency, and teamwork to strengthen schools and provide more opportunities for students across the district.

To receive this recognition, school boards must meet rigorous criteria that exceed those required for Quality Board and Distinguished Board status. The current members of the Jackson County Board of Education are Ricky J. Sanders, Lynne Massey-Wheeler, Melissa Mullen, Beau Hollett, and Rob Johnson.

“This marks the third consecutive year the JCSS BOE has earned the honor.”

“The Exemplary Board recognition shows the Board’s commitment to effective governance, in conjunction with Superintendent Dr. Philip Brown, along with the continuous improvement, transparency and collaboration that lead to fostering strong schools and maximizing opportunities for students throughout the county’s largest school system.”
