Hull-Sanford Elementary School counted 117 Hispanic students enrolled for 2024-25, reflecting a 3.3% decline compared to the prior year, reports from the Georgia Department of Education show.
Total enrollment at Hull-Sanford Elementary reached 489 students in the 2024-25 school year. Hispanic students represented 24% of the overall student population, making them the second-largest demographic group at the school.
The elementary school is part of the Madison County School District, which has a central office located in Danielsville.
Among the seven schools in the district, Madison County High School registered the highest number of Hispanic students in 2024-25, enrolling 240 students that year.
The Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report found that more than 1.7 million students were enrolled in Georgia public schools. Elementary grades reported the largest share with 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by middle school with 388,733 students (22.7%), and high school with 539,092 students (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism persists as a significant problem in Georgia schools following the pandemic; in 2024, 20.7% of students missed at least 10% of school days, according to the Georgia Department of Education. In response, GaDOE began a statewide effort featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, awareness campaign, and targeted support for districts with greater needs to improve attendance.
Georgia legislators updated school attendance laws in 2025, prohibiting expulsion solely for absenteeism and adding new reporting criteria. The changes also support alternative diploma pathways for students.
By 2026, the student-teacher ratio in Georgia averaged roughly 14:1, outperforming the national average of 15:1.
