Four Asian students were enrolled at Hull-Sanford Elementary School in the 2024-25 school year, representing a 20% drop compared to the prior year, reports from the Georgia Department of Education show.
The school’s total enrollment for 2024-25 was 489 students. Of those, Asian students comprised 1% of the population, the smallest demographic group at the school.
Hull-Sanford Elementary is part of the Madison County School District, which is administered from its central office in Danielsville.
Across the seven Madison County School District campuses, Madison County High School had the highest Asian student enrollment for 2024-25, at 45 students.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the demographic breakdown for public school students in Georgia includes 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.
Chronic absenteeism continues to be a challenge in Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days during 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. In response, GaDOE has launched a range of initiatives such as a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and focused support for districts with high needs in order to increase daily attendance rates.
Georgia lawmakers approved legislation in 2025 updating rules for school attendance, including a ban on expulsion solely on the basis of absenteeism. The new law also establishes additional reporting and supports opportunities for students to receive diplomas via alternative pathways.
By 2026, Georgia had a student-to-teacher ratio averaging about 14:1, which is lower than the national ratio of 15:1.
