Houston Gaines, recently named the Republican nominee for Congress, expressed gratitude to supporters and colleagues in a series of tweets posted on May 20, 2026.
In his first tweet at 19:54 UTC, Gaines wrote, “Thank you, @tomemmer! https://t.co/jf8qmhiGvJ”. Shortly after, at 19:54 UTC, he followed with another message: “Thank you, @LisaForCongress! https://t.co/fyzuUmB07z”.
Later that evening at 20:00 UTC, Gaines addressed his new role as the party’s nominee and acknowledged both voters and former rivals. He stated, “On my first day as your Republican nominee for Congress, I’m immensely grateful to the voters of our district for their trust, support, and belief in our campaign during this primary. Gaines previously served as a Republican member of the Georgia State House after being elected in 2023 to represent the state’s 120th House District. He succeeded Trey Rhodes in that position.
