Houston Gaines, recently named the Republican nominee for Congress, expressed gratitude to supporters and colleagues in a series of tweets posted on May 20, 2026.

Later that evening at 20:00 UTC, Gaines addressed his new role as the party’s nominee and acknowledged both voters and former rivals. Gaines previously served as a Republican member of the Georgia State House after being elected in 2023 to represent the state’s 120th House District. He succeeded Trey Rhodes in that position.
