Houston Gaines, a Republican member of the Georgia State House representing the 120th District since 2023, shared reflections and observations in a series of posts on his social media account between September 11 and September 12, 2025.
On September 11, Gaines commemorated the anniversary of the September 11 attacks. He wrote, “24 years ago our country was changed forever. Today we remember the victims on that horrific day and honor the first responders who went head first into danger. We must never forget.
We must also not forget that on 9/12/01, our country came together like never before. It is my” (posted on September 11, 2025).
The following evening, Gaines described his experience at an event in Atlanta hosted by FrontlineGA. In his post dated September 12, he stated: “Headed home from an inspiring evening with @FrontlineGA in Atlanta & just passed this billboard. It brings me hope. People are motivated by Charlie’s work & recognize his approach is what we need in this country — civil dialogue & debate. An incredible leader, husband & father.”
Later that day, Gaines commented on an upcoming sports event while also commending local student leaders: “I hope we beat the brakes off the Vols tomorrow but credit where credit is due. Good for these fraternities & young leaders.” (September 12, 2025).
Gaines was elected to serve Georgia’s 120th House District in 2023 after succeeding Trey Rhodes as state representative.
