Houston Gaines, a member of the Georgia State House representing the 120th District, shared a series of posts on social media expressing support for the University of Georgia’s football team during their matchup against the University of Mississippi, commonly referred to as the “Rebs.”
On October 18, 2025, Gaines posted, “We picked Georgia — time to take down the Rebs. Go Dawgs!” Later that same day, he reiterated his enthusiasm with another post: “Go Dawgs!!”
The following day, Gaines reflected on the game’s momentum, stating, “It was looking really grim yesterday until a ‘Dawgs for Gaines’ sticker made an appearance on TV — then things turned around quickly…”
Gaines, a Republican, was elected to the Georgia State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 120th House District, succeeding Trey Rhodes. His public support for the University of Georgia’s football team is consistent with the school’s significant presence and following within his district and across the state.
