Houston Gaines, a Republican and Georgia State House representative for the 120th District, shared updates about his campaign and political views through several social media posts in early October 2025.
On October 1, Gaines recounted the turnout at his campaign kickoff event in Oconee County. He wrote, “I’m blown away—the support at our campaign kickoff last night in Oconee County was unbelievable. More than 400 folks joined us! As I hit the road headed to Elbert Co. for another event tonight, I simply want to say thank you. The momentum is real & we’re full speed ahead!”
Two days later, on October 2, Gaines commented on ongoing federal budget negotiations and a potential government shutdown. In his post he stated, ‘”We’re going to see the government shutdown because the Democrats are insisting that we pay for healthcare for those in this country illegally. It’s a crazy world.” This week shows why we must keep CD-10 red & grow the Majority.’
On October 4, Gaines thanked supporters displaying campaign materials in Athens. He posted, “Great to see folks displaying their signs & stickers on a perfect morning in Athens — thanks for sharing! See y’all soon. Go Dawgs!”
Gaines was elected to represent Georgia’s 120th House District in 2023 after succeeding Trey Rhodes as state representative.
