Houston Gaines, a Republican member of the Georgia State House representing the 120th District since 2023, recently shared updates on his social media regarding local elections and community events.
On October 14, 2025, Gaines posted about the beginning of early voting for Public Service Commission races in Georgia. He emphasized the significance of these positions in shaping energy policy for the state and urged voters to participate: “Early voting has started for our Public Service Commission races – these are statewide elected positions that play a vital role in setting Georgia’s energy policy. We can’t afford to let the Democrats win these seats.
Go early vote this week for @timechols & @FriendsForFitz!”
Later that day, Gaines reflected on his campaign travels and family heritage, posting: “I’m having a blast campaigning. Last night was special as we traveled to Franklin County and stopped by where my great grandparents lived & saw this plaque honoring them. From our roots in Elbert & Franklin counties & three generations in Clarke, I’m proud of our family’s legacy.”
On October 16, 2025, Gaines highlighted an event with local law enforcement officers and celebrated Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith’s recognition: “A great day with our Georgia sheriffs! Barrow County’s Jud Smith was honored as Sheriff of the Year — a well deserved honor for an incredible leader.
It was good to see many other sheriffs & LEOs from the 10th District — we are blessed with great law enforcement officers!”
Gaines succeeded Trey Rhodes in the Georgia State House following his election in 2023.
