Houston Gaines, a Republican representing Georgia’s 120th House District, has recently shared his positions on key state and national issues through a series of posts on social media.
On January 8, 2026, Gaines addressed the issue of property taxes in Georgia. He stated, “It’s time to eliminate property taxes for homeowners in Georgia. That’s why House Republicans have made it one of our top priorities this legislative Session — let’s get it done!”
The following day, Gaines commented on an upcoming demonstration related to immigration enforcement in Athens, the city where Laken Riley was murdered. On January 9, he wrote: “I wish this flyer was a joke, but it’s not. In the same city where Laken Riley was murdered, leftists will march tomorrow night with their masks on to abolish ICE. I stand with ICE and will always support our men & women in law enforcement.”
Later that same day, coinciding with National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Gaines expressed gratitude for law enforcement officers. His post read: “On this National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we thank the great men & women who serve and protect our communities. I’ll always proudly back the blue!”
Gaines was elected to the Georgia State House in 2023 and succeeded Trey Rhodes as representative of District 120.
