The following day, he declared his congressional campaign and support for former President Donald Trump. On July 31, Gaines wrote: “I’m running for Congress to take the fight to D.C. and help President Trump continue to deliver for the American people. Gaines was elected to the Georgia State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 120th House District after replacing previous state representative Trey Rhodes. He has emphasized his local connections and legislative experience as part of his campaign messaging.
