The Classic Center and Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia, are preparing for a series of holiday events aimed at bringing the community together. Visitors to The Classic Center will see the Tinsel Trail, an outdoor display featuring decorated trees from local businesses and organizations. This event is presented by Women in Construction and The Classic Center Cultural Foundation.
Athens On Ice, the region’s only ice-skating rink, returns this season with festive treats, holiday decorations, and themed nights designed for families and friends to enjoy. The venue will also host several performances and activities throughout December.
The lineup includes Cirque Dreams Holidaze on December 4 and 5 as part of the Broadway season in Athens. On December 12, the Athens Rock Lobsters Teddy Bear Toss will take place; teddy bears thrown onto the ice during this event will be donated to children’s hospitals and charities.
The Athens Symphony Orchestra Christmas Concerts are scheduled for December 13 and 14. John Berry will return for his 29th annual Christmas performance on December 18. The Nutcracker ballet is set for December 21.
A representative stated: “Whether enjoying a family outing, a seasonal performance, or a cozy skate on the ice, The Classic Center and Akins Ford Arena offer something for everyone this holiday season.” More information can be found at ClassicCenter.com.
