Heroes Elementary School has been recognized as a 2025-26 National BETA School of Merit, making it the ninth school in the Jackson County School System to receive this honor during the current year.

The school recently inducted its first BETA Club members and was acknowledged for its commitment to academic achievement and for recognizing students’ accomplishments. To qualify as a School of Merit, institutions must offer BETA Club opportunities to all eligible grades, which supports leadership development and encourages student involvement in service activities.

Heroes Elementary now joins East Jackson Elementary, Gum Springs Elementary, Maysville Elementary, North Jackson Elementary, South Jackson Elementary, West Jackson Elementary School, East Jackson Middle School, and East Jackson High School among the district’s schools that have earned this distinction.

According to the press release: “The National BETA organization is the largest, independent, educational youth organization in America, and emphasizes academic achievement, character, leadership and service by providing opportunities and experiences to impact members, their schools, and communities across the world.”
