Amber Buchanan, owner of Sunny Days Therapeutics, has put her best foot forward in providing needed services for the Athens community. Her entrepreneurial vision was sparked by her own personal journey of understanding the difficulties that exist in receiving resources for those with special needs. As a passionate and hard-working mother who is currently raising a son on the autism spectrum, she has experienced the difficulties of finding available services to improve skills and overall quality of life for children of all abilities. “The more I began to research, I learned that those in our special needs community under 18 have been on waitlists for 6 months to a year or even more.” Her mission was to find joy in helping others. She willingly sold her home, left her job, and found this joy through the creation of Sunny Days, hoping to extend this newfound radiance to both the neurotypical and neurodivergent community.

What is unique about Sunny Days is that there is not a waitlist. A simple call leads to a session booked with one of the therapists from the team, customizable to fit the patient’s needs. A walk into the space allows one to witness how the warm and welcoming environment radiates an interactive and positive willingness to provide to all. Sunny Days is proud to announce that they are accepting many private insurances such as Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna and is working to accept Medicaid and Humana by the end of this year. To relieve further financial hardship, Buchanan would love to provide scholarships for patients to receive equitable access to the services. A new sponsorship campaign that will fund patient scholarships has recently begun. The name, Sunny Days, speaks for itself as the budding business’s values are aligned with treating patients, co-workers, and the surrounding community with kindness and respect. Buchanan anticipates a bright future for Sunny Days, as its accessibility creates a safe space for anyone aiming for improvement in their health and wellbeing. Sunny Days prides itself in offering services to the full lifespan spectrum of ages and abilities. Buchanan and her team are always happy to share more on the programs and services offered.
