Elizabeth Taxel, an associate professor and director of the Criminal Defense Practicum, was recently featured in The Current. The article, written by Tyler Davis and published on October 16, 2025, discusses the rights of individuals who are facing involuntary committal. Titled “Family questions man’s 14-year ordeal of involuntary committal with no trial,” the piece examines a case where a family is questioning the extended duration of a man’s commitment without trial.
