Dr. Julian Hutchins Joins Middle Georgia Medical Associates

Julian C. Hutchins, Jr., MD, an internal medicine doctor with extensive experience in direct patient care, has joined Middle Georgia Medical Associates (MGMA), a practice within St. Mary’s Medical Group serving Greene County and surrounding areas.

Dr. Hutchins comes to MGMA from Macon, where he served as an assistant professor of internal medicine with Mercer University School of Medicine, starting in 2014. Among his many roles with Mercer, Dr. Hutchins served as a primary care physician, managing partner of a multi-site, multispecialty practice, and attending physician for inpatient academic services, which included educating and training Physician Residents and medical students. He also coordinated and lead medical mission trips as part of the university’s Mercer on Mission program. Other leadership roles included practice lab director and medical director of the medical student crisis hotline.

In addition to his work with Mercer, Dr. Hutchins’s prior experience includes providing primary care at the Charlie Norwood Veterans Administration Medical Center, Southern Family Medical Center, and other healthcare facilities in the Augusta area.

Dr. Hutchins has volunteer experience on medical mission trips to eight nations, among them the Philippines, Kenya, Bangladesh and Cambodia. He is an Ordained Ruling Elder with First Presbyterian Church of Macon, the Christian Medical Association at Mercer, and serves as an Indelible Investments Board Member, which uses investment dividends to support not-for-profit organizations that serve those in need.

Dr. Hutchins received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Georgia. He completed his medical education at the Medical College of Georgia, where he also completed his internal medicine internship and residency. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is licensed to practice in Georgia and South Carolina.
