COUNTY OF OCONEE: Oconee County to Launch Comprehensive Plan Update Community Survey
0Comments

County of Oconee issued the following announcement on June 14.

Oconee County Government is embarking on a five-year update to its Comprehensive Plan, which will be completed in 2023. An online survey will be available beginning Tuesday, June 21, through Thursday, September 1, 2022. Community members are asked to provide their responses to the survey to help planners identify issues that are important to the community and that should be addressed in the Comprehensive Plan.

The Comprehensive Plan is Oconee County’s  road map for the future. This official, living, county-wide plan is a public document that provides long-range policy direction for land use, transportation, economic development, housing, public facilities, intergovernmental agreements, and natural resources. It serves as a guide for elected and public officials by providing the framework for evaluating development proposals. Included in the Comprehensive Plan are strategies for program funding for many county departments. The last complete update of the Comprehensive Plan was in 2018. The current update will be completed in 2023 and will make the Comprehensive Plan responsive to Oconee’s current and projected needs with a 20-year outlook.

“As we look at our state mandated five-year update to the 2018 Oconee County Joint Comprehensive Plan, our focus will be narrowed to address short term work program projects, changes in land use patterns observed since the 2018 adoption, data provided by the 2020 Census and review of potential minor adjustments that may be identified through community input,” said Oconee County Planning and Code Enforcement Director Guy Herring. “We strongly encourage our community to provide input via the online survey to ensure the update reflects the desires of the community as a whole.”
