The computation and canvassing of ballots for the November 4, 2025, Municipal General and Special Election in Athens-Clarke County will begin at 7:00 PM at 2555 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia. According to state law, this process is required to be public.

Canvassing will continue on November 5 from 10:00 AM at the Elections Department Office located at 155 E. Washington Street and will proceed until all votes are counted. The process includes reconciling provisional ballots as specified by Georgia law to ensure every ballot is accounted for. It also involves confirming that absentee ballots received each day are included in the final count.

“The computation and canvassing process is open to the public.”

After polls close on election night, the superintendent of elections collects memory cards from both advance voting sites and election day polling locations. Absentee ballots are scanned, and detailed reports are generated for all contests on the ballot. The superintendent then organizes election documentation ahead of canvassing.

During canvassing, officials compare tabulated results with the number of registered voters and review supporting documents to check for accuracy. Once verified, results are recorded on official forms and submitted to the Georgia Secretary of State. Certification by the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections marks the end of the process.
