Comer Health and Rehabilitation earned a 4 out of 5 overall rating for the first quarter of 2026, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This result is higher than the Georgia nursing home average of 2.7.
The facility offered 116 available beds—five more than the average for Georgia during the period—and provided care for an average of 68.6 residents in the quarter.
Throughout the first quarter of 2026, Comer Health and Rehabilitation did not receive any fines or penalties.
Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show the nation’s older population is growing as younger demographic numbers decline. Between 2020 and 2024, U.S. residents 65 and older increased by 13%, while the population under 18 decreased by 1.7%. Over the last century, the country’s older adult population grew substantially, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A 2021 study indicates about half of this age group—approximately 28 million people—could need long-term services and supports. The study also estimates that more than a third may ultimately require care in a nursing facility.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
