Prince senior Gracie Cochran has been selected as the Rotary Student of the Semester for Fall 2022.  Gracie was chosen by Prince teachers for her demonstration of the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self”.

Gracie is the daughter of Marcie and William Cochran and has attended Prince for 13 years.  She is in the National Honors Society, Beta Club, Interact Club, Modern Music Masters, and Thespian Society.  While at Prince she has been active in the Prince bands, fine arts productions, academic team, and student government.  Gracie volunteers at the Athens Area Humane Society and Athens First United Methodist Church children’s, prayer shawl, and service ministries.

Gracie selected high school history teacher Karen Barrett as her teacher representative to share in this honor.  Gracie explains, “I selected Mrs. Barrett because she has not only been my academic teacher, but she has been a mentor to me. She is always there to lift me up and inspire me to do the best I can at whatever I do.”

Mrs. Barrett describes Gracie as the kind of student a teacher enjoys teaching and knowing. “She is thoughtful, inquisitive, kind, and ever willing to help. That is why the Rotary motto, ‘service above self’ makes her such a great choice to represent our school.”
