The Classic Center Theatre in downtown Athens announced on March 10 a series of performances for the month, featuring international ballet, a local fundraising competition, symphony music, and a Broadway musical.

This lineup is expected to draw diverse audiences to the venue. The events highlight both local talent and internationally acclaimed artists, while also supporting community causes.

The schedule begins with Swan Lake on March 11. This production features more than 200 custom scenic elements and hand-painted sets. Dancers from Dance FX in Athens will perform alongside artists from countries such as Italy, Spain, Georgia, Ireland, Turkey, Brazil, Great Britain, Ukraine, Japan, Tajikistan, Moldova, and Kazakhstan. The performance aims to showcase international artistry.

On March 21, Dancing with The Athens Stars will take place as an annual fundraiser for Project Safe. Local celebrities will compete in hopes of reaching a $2 million milestone to support services for survivors of domestic violence.

The Athens Symphony Orchestra’s Spring Concert is scheduled for March 22. Titled “Four Tunes Walk into a Bar,” the concert promises a blend of musical storytelling and artistic flair as the orchestra prepares to celebrate three decades at The Classic Center Theatre.

Broadway fans can attend Mrs. Doubtfire on March 25-26. Based on the popular film, this musical tells the story of an out-of-work actor who goes to great lengths for his children. According to the Chicago Tribune: “the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now.”

Looking ahead to April 10, Cary Elwes will host “The Princess Bride: An Inconceivable Evening,” which includes a screening of the film followed by live commentary and behind-the-scenes stories from Elwes himself.

The Classic Center describes itself as a premier multi-use conference center and performing arts theatre located in Athens. Its facilities include state-of-the-art venues such as Akins Ford Arena that opened in 2024.
