Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical will be performed at The Classic Center Theatre in Athens, Georgia, for one night only on May 15. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m. through ClassicCenter.com.
The musical features a cast of singers, dancers, and actors accompanied by an eight-piece rock band. It includes songs from the Bat Out Of Hell albums by Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf. The show has received several awards and nominations, including the UK’s Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Awards and eight nominations at the London WhatsOnStage Awards.
Bat Out Of Hell – The Musical has been staged in cities such as Manchester, London, Toronto, and New York City. It has also had successful runs in Canada, Germany, Las Vegas, and toured internationally to countries including Australia and New Zealand. Critics have praised the production; The Independent gave it five stars while The New York Times described it as “extravagant, absurd, compulsively hummable.”
The story follows characters known as the Lost boys and girls who flee into tunnels beneath a city ruled by Falco. A romance develops between Raven, Falco’s daughter, and Strat, leader of the Lost. Songs featured include “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth,” “I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That),” “It’s All Coming Back to Me,” among others.
The production team includes director Jay Scheib with music supervision by Michael Reed and choreography by Xena Gusthart. Producers include Michael Cohl of S2BN Entertainment along with Tony Smith and David Sonenberg.
The Classic Center is described as a multi-use conference center and performing arts theatre located in Athens that hosts various events throughout the year.
