Athens Research & Technology, Inc. announced on April 6 that it will officially change its corporate name to Athens Bioscience, Inc., effective the same day.

The company said this change marks a significant step in its growth from a specialized protein manufacturer into a global bioscience partner serving the diagnostic, research, and biopharmaceutical industries. The new name is intended to reflect an expanded scope and ongoing commitment to scientific discovery and innovation.

“This transition marks more than a new name, it marks the next chapter in our company’s story,” said John Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of Athens Research and Technology. “For over 40 years, Athens Research & Technology has been synonymous with quality, reliability, and scientific rigor. As Athens Bioscience, we honor that legacy while embracing a broader mission: to empower discovery through bioscience innovation, transparency, and excellence in everything we do.”

The company emphasized that only its name is changing; ownership, leadership, operations—and all products or services—will remain unchanged. Customers are advised that starting April 6 all business correspondence should reference the new company name. Existing email addresses will remain active for at least one year after the transition.

Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Athens, Georgia, the company produces high-purity native human and animal proteins for research and diagnostics markets under ISO 9001:2015-certified quality systems. Its Immunogen Grade program focuses on mass-spectrometry-verified purity standards.
