Athens Orthopedic Clinic has announced the addition of Dr. Clayton Wing as its newest orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Wing will focus on hip and knee replacement, utilizing various techniques tailored to individual patient needs. His expertise includes muscle-sparing direct anterior approaches and the use of robotic-assisted technology, which aims to improve surgical accuracy and personalize procedures for better outcomes.
“AOC is excited to welcome Dr. Wing to our team,” said Mike Boblitz, CEO of Athens Orthopedic Center. “Dr. Wing’s specialization in hip and knee reconstruction continues AOC’s expansion of our comprehensive centers of excellence through the offering of innovative orthopedic treatment and procedures.”
Boblitz also stated, “Employers, payers and especially patients have a desire to access industry-leading joint replacement and orthopedic care in an outpatient setting where the patient can return home in a matter of hours. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Wing to fulfill this need and help reduce the overall cost of care.”
Dr. Wing recently completed an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, focusing on advanced hip and knee replacement techniques. He also finished his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic.
A Georgia native, Dr. Wing earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia with honors, holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Nutrition from the University of Georgia, and graduated from North Oconee High School.
He has published research in leading orthopedic journals and presented at national conferences. His clinical interests include joint replacement and outpatient arthroplasty.
Dr. Wing is now accepting appointments in Athens, with plans to expand his clinic services soon to AOC’s Greensboro location at Lake Oconee.
