The Athens-Clarke County Housing and Community Development Department announced on Mar. 25 that it will host guided tours of local affordable housing and community development projects during National Community Development Week, which takes place from April 6 to April 10.

The event aims to highlight the impact of federal and local funding on improving housing opportunities in Athens. The tours are designed to showcase projects supported by the Community Development Block Grant and HOME Investment Partnership Programs, which play a role in supporting neighborhoods across the country.

Residents can register for one of two available tours, scheduled for Tuesday, April 7 or Friday, April 10 from 10:00 AM to noon. Each tour will begin at the Historic Athens Welcome Center at 280 E Dougherty Street. Participants will receive an overview before boarding a shuttle for a narrated drive through East Athens and downtown areas. Afterward, staff from Housing and Community Development will be available for questions and light refreshments. Registration is required due to limited space.
