The Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department has announced changes to its collection schedule in observance of Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. All compost, leaf and limb, recycling, and trash collections will be suspended for the holiday.

According to the department, residential and commercial customers outside the downtown district will have their pickups adjusted as follows: Monday’s collections remain unchanged; Tuesday’s collections move to Wednesday; Wednesday’s collections shift to Thursday; and both Thursday and Friday’s collections will take place on Friday. Customers are asked to place their trash and recycling roll-carts at the curb by 7:00 AM on their scheduled pickup day. Regular service will resume on Monday, November 17, 2025.

For those with service within the downtown district, both commercial and residential pickups will continue according to the usual schedule.

“Please make sure your trash and recycling roll-carts are out on the curb by 7:00 AM on your pickup day. We will resume our normal pickup schedule on Monday, November 17th, 2025,” stated the department.

No additional information was provided regarding other municipal services or impacts related to the holiday.
