Athens-Clarke County seeks residents to fill positions on local policy-making boards

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government (ACCGov) is looking for residents to serve on several policy-making boards. There are open positions on the Board of Elections, the Human Relations Commission, and the Vision Committee. The available roles include one spot on the Board of Elections for a partial term ending December 31, 2028; three spots on the Human Relations Commission with two terms ending April 30, 2026 and one term ending April 30, 2028; and one spot on the Vision Committee for a term ending June 30, 2028.

Applications are due by Friday, January 30, 2026. To be eligible for any position, applicants must live in Athens-Clarke County. Applications can be completed online at www.accgov.com/boards or picked up from the Clerk of Commission’s Office at City Hall. Each position requires a separate application.

Interviews are planned for Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 2026. This is currently set as the only date for interviews. Applicants who cannot attend should note this in their application. Those chosen for an interview will receive details about their interview time and location.

The Mayor and Commission plan to make appointments during their regular session meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
