Athens-Clarke County seeks applicants for multiple boards and commissions

The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government announced on April 6 that it is seeking applicants to fill several open positions on various policy-making boards, authorities, and commissions. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, April 10.

These positions include roles on the Airport Authority, Library Board, Downtown Development Authority, Division of Family and Children Services Board, Classic Center Authority, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Region 2 Advisory Council, Georgia Innovation Corridor Joint Development Authority, Historic Preservation Commission, Human Relations Commission, Joint Development Authority of ACCGov and Winterville, Planning Commission, Public Safety Civilian Oversight Board, Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly Authority, and Vision Committee. Each position has specific term lengths ranging from two to six years.

Applicants must be residents of Athens-Clarke County. Interested individuals can apply online at www.accgov.com/boards or pick up an application from the Clerk of Commission’s Office in Room 204 at City Hall. A separate application is required for each position applied for; candidates may apply for a maximum of two positions.

Interviews are tentatively scheduled for either Tuesday afternoon/evening on April 28 or Wednesday on April 29. The specific interview date depends on the board in question and will be indicated on the application form. Applicants who cannot attend their designated interview date should note this in their submission. Those selected will receive notification regarding their interview schedule.

Appointments are expected to be made by the Mayor and Commission during their Regular Session meeting set for Tuesday, May 5. More information about each board or commission can be found online at www.accgov.com/boards or by contacting the Clerk of Commission’s Office.
