The Athens-Clarke County Communications Department has released the 2026 edition of its “ACC from A to Z: A Guide to the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government and Community Services.” The updated guide is available in both print and electronic formats, providing information on more than 700 government programs, services, and community organizations.
The guide is organized alphabetically by subject and has been produced for over twenty years. It is based on questions commonly received by the Communications Department through phone, email, or social media. The content is reviewed and updated each year to ensure accuracy.
Printed copies are currently available at several locations, including the Multimodal Transportation Center publication racks under the outdoor covered area, the courthouse publication rack near the elevators on the first floor, downtown publication racks, and City Hall/Communications Department. Additional printed copies will be distributed at other ACCGov facilities and public events through the ACCGov to You booth. The digital version can be downloaded at www.accgov.com/atoz.
The guide includes contact details for local, state, and federal elected officials representing Athens-Clarke County; a summary of demographic, historical, and financial data; a list of urgent issues with relevant contacts; an overview of government organization; a Commission district map; recycling information; broadcast schedules for ACTV Cable Channel 180 (Charter) and Mayor and Commission meetings; common government acronyms; lists of SPLOST and TSPLOST projects; important contact numbers; and selected ordinances.
This year’s cover features artwork of City Hall’s dome created by the Cotton Patch Quilters. The guild has been active in Athens since 1985 with a mission to promote quilting among members and the community while supporting charitable projects. Over four decades, they have provided quilts to local organizations, hosted quilt shows open to the public, and participated in regional events. More about their work can be found at www.cpquilters.org.
The cover marks the tenth entry in an annual series that highlights different local artists’ interpretations of City Hall. Previous covers were created by artists working in various media such as watercolor, mosaic, embroidery, chalk art, confectionary art, digital art, linoleum print/mixed-media, ceramics, and illustration.
Athens-Clarke County operates as a consolidated city-county government that provides unified public services across Athens and Clarke County in Georgia. These services include management of parks, facilities like the restored Morton Theatre—which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places—and community programs. More details about these municipal operations are available on the official website.
