The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government Public Utilities Department is seeking community input on its 2025 Service Delivery Plan, which outlines 50 proposed capital improvement projects for local water and sewer services. The department will hold four open houses in October and is also conducting an online survey through November 2 to gather feedback from residents.

The Service Delivery Plan is reviewed every five years and assesses long-term water and sewer needs over a 20-year period. It was first adopted in 1995 and focuses on infrastructure, capital improvements, and financial planning. The current set of projects has been identified based on community requirements and prioritized according to the goals established by the Mayor and Commission.

Residents can attend any of the scheduled open houses to learn about the plan, ask questions, and share their opinions. Open houses will be held at the Snipes Water Resources Center, Athens-Clarke County Library, Goodwill East Athens Training Center, and Athens-Clarke County Extension Office at various dates and times throughout October.

Details about each project as well as fact sheets are available on the Service Delivery Plan’s webpage. Community members can provide input by completing an online survey that remains open until November 2. More information is available at www.accgov.com/sdp.

“The Service Delivery Plan evaluates the water and sewer needs over 20 years and is updated every five years. Originally adopted in 1995, the Service Delivery Plan consists of three main elements: infrastructure, capital improvements, and financial,” according to information provided by ACCGov.

“The 2025 Service Delivery Plan projects have been identified to meet community needs for water and wastewater services. These projects have been categorized, evaluated, and prioritized based on the goals, values, and objectives approved by the Mayor and Commission.”
