The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department has opened applications for participants in the 2025 Downtown Parade of Lights. The parade is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Those interested in entering a float or performing unit must submit their applications by Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 5:00 p.m., as late submissions will not be accepted.

Applications can be completed online at www.accgov.com/parade, and there is a $40 fee for each entry.

Each year, more than 75 floats and performing groups participate in the event. Prizes are awarded in several categories including “Most Original Float,” “Best Use of Theme,” “Best Performance,” and “Best Use of Lights.” The top honor, the “Mayor’s Award,” goes to the best overall float. The theme for this year’s parade is “Cooking up a Great Holiday!”

The parade will start at 7:00 p.m. at the corner of Hancock Avenue and Pulaski Street and conclude in front of City Hall with the traditional tree lighting ceremony.

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department organizes the event, which is sponsored by the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government and the Athens Downtown Development Authority.

More information about the parade and application forms are available at www.accgov.com/parade.
