The Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections has announced permanent changes to polling locations for Precinct 7A and Precinct 3B. These changes come after site availability issues and efforts to improve accessibility.

For Precinct 7A, the polling location is moving from Timothy Baptist Church to the Athens-Clarke County Library at 2025 Baxter Street. This site will now serve both Precinct 7A and Precinct 7B voters. The change follows a request from Timothy Baptist Church to no longer serve as a polling place, and after three elections held successfully at the library as a temporary solution, the board decided in October 2025 to make this arrangement permanent starting with the May 2026 election.

The former polling location for Precinct 3B was Thomas N. Lay Park gymnasium. Due to a development project affecting parking access, voting for this precinct will move to Bobby Snipes Water Resource Center at 780 Barber Street. This new site remains within the boundaries of Precinct 3B.

These changes affect only where in-person Election Day voting occurs; district lines and ballot content remain unchanged. All affected voters will receive updated precinct cards by mail, and signage will be posted on Election Day at required locations.

Residents can submit feedback about these changes online through the Board of Elections comment form or attend the next meeting on February 10, 2026, at the Athens-Clarke County Facilities and Landscape Building. Written comments may also be sent by mail to the Athens-Clarke County Elections Department.

According to information provided by the official website, Athens-Clarke County operates as a consolidated city-county government serving residents across both areas since its formation in January 1991.

For more details or questions about these updates, voters are encouraged to contact the Athens-Clarke County Elections Department.
