The Athens-Clarke County Library announces its newest art exhibit, We Are All Makers, featuring works by Lyndon House staff. The exhibit opens Sunday, Dec. 11, and will be on view in the library’s second floor Bogue Gallery through Feb. 12. An opening reception with a panel discussion will take place Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3:00 pm.

Each of the eight artists featured in We Are All Makers works at The Lyndon House Arts Center. The community arts center is staffed by artists. Yes, they are in education, administration, public relations but what makes this institution really hum is they are all makers.

This is the first time they will see their work as artists exhibited together. Their media range from found objects, watercolors, photography, printmaking, to painting and more. They work in education, administration and public relations, but what makes this institution really hum is that they are all makers. Featured artists include:

  • Jaime Bull works with found & repurposed materials to reference the body with a feminist perspective.
  • Toni Carlucci uses watercolor art to help the Africa Vulnerable Children Project.
  • Didi Dunphy has written well-respected books and articles for the arts media. Her work combines high tech post studio fabrication with “women’s work.”
  • Artist Kathryn Refi’s work addresses the underlying framework of the grid, which is emblematic of reason, the scientific method, and objectivity, and how it relates to the organic nature of life.
  • Ciel Rodriguez’s artistic practice focuses on enveloping her viewers and readers in quiet expanses, evoking states of mind or states of remembrance.
  • Beth Sales is a painter who currently serves as Program Specialist in Exhibitions at the Lyndon House Arts Center.
  • William Stephanos runs the education department at Lyndon House Arts Center. Although a jeweler by training, William has been painting daily since 2015.
  • Photographer Shannon Williams took Commercial Graphics in college and has been a member of the Lyndon House Photography Club since its inception.

The Athens-Clarke County Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens. For more information, call the library at 706-613-3650 or visit athenslibrary.org/Athens.
