Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services announces summer camp open houses

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will hold a series of open house sessions for its summer camp programs. The events are scheduled to take place at several locations: Thursday, February 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Park, Saturday, February 21 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Heard Park, and Wednesday, February 25 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Lyndon House Arts Center.

All venues offer free parking and are accessible via the Athens Transit bus line.

Department staff will be present to provide information about various camps offered by the department, including art camps, day camps, gymnastics camps, mini camps, sports camps, theatre camps and others. Staff will also assist with creating online registration accounts and processing scholarship applications on site.

Potential scholarship applicants are reminded to bring necessary documents such as a utility bill from the last 90 days, a valid photo ID and their most recent federal tax return listing the children applying. Scholarships are available only for qualifying Athens-Clarke County residents under age 18.

Online registration for summer camp begins Saturday, March 14 at 9:00 a.m. for county residents. Non-residents may register starting Monday, March 16 at noon through www.accgov.com/myrec.
