The Athens-Clarke County Housing and Community Development Department announced on Mar. 13 that it will host two free events in April to observe Fair Housing Month.

These events aim to inform community members about fair housing rights and tenant protections. The department said the programs are open to all residents and will take place at the Athens-Clarke County Library.

The first event, a Fair Housing Lunch & Learn, is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Multipurpose Room B. The second event, a Tenant’s Rights Forum, will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Appleton Auditorium. Registration is available for both events.

The City of Athens operates as a consolidated city-county government providing unified public services across Athens and Clarke County in Georgia, according to the official website. The local government manages municipal services such as parks, facilities, and community programs and oversees restored historic sites like the Morton Theatre, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1910 according to the official website.

By hosting these educational sessions during Fair Housing Month, Athens-Clarke County continues its support for community engagement and awareness around housing rights.
