Athens-Clarke County announces absentee ballot processing schedule for June 16 runoff

The Athens-Clarke County Elections Department announced on June 3 the schedule for early processing and tabulation of absentee ballots and advance votes for the upcoming General Primary / Non-Partisan General Election Runoff, set for Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

According to the department, processing of absentee ballots will take place at the Athens-Clarke County Facilities Management Building at 2555 Lexington Road in Athens. The scheduled dates and times are Wednesday, June 10 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM; Thursday, June 11 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM; Monday, June 15 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM; and Tuesday, June 16 (Runoff Election Day), beginning at 4:00 PM until completion.

The early tabulation process for both absentee ballots and advance votes will begin on Election Day. Tabulation of absentee ballots is set to start at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16. Advance votes cast during the early voting period will be tabulated starting at 6:00 PM that same day. These procedures are being conducted pursuant to Official Code of Georgia Annotated §21-2-386(a)(2)(A) and §21-2-386(a)(3).

The City of Athens operates as a consolidated city-county government providing unified public services across Athens and Clarke County in Georgia. It manages municipal services such as parks, facilities management—including restored historic sites like Morton Theatre—and community programs through its various departments, according to the official website.
