Athens Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 16.
Mary Jo Johnson and Robin Lacrimosa, both Life Care Coordinators at Kimbrough Law, were awarded Certificates in Elder Care Coordination in May after completing a program offered by the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association in collaboration with the Stockton Center on Successful Aging at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
The Certificate in Elder Care Coordination is a 15-week post-baccalaureate professional education program that teaches best practices from the fields of gerontology, social work, geriatric care management, and elder law. The program enhances the ability of Life Care Coordinators to help clients and families respond with confidence to the legal, financial, and personal challenges caused by older adults’ aging, chronic illness, and disability.
“We are excited to bring this advanced level of elder care expertise to the community,” said Hailey Brock, Kimbrough Law’s managing partner. “The Certificate in Elder Care Coordination enhances the ability of our care coordinators to enhance quality of life for older adults and family caregivers during the long-term care journey.”
Ms. Johnson and Ms. Lacrimosa both have more than three decades of experience in the geriatrics field.
Before joining Kimbrough Law in 2021, Ms. Johnson worked as a licensed nursing home administrator, designed state-of-the-art memory care facilities, worked as a dementia trainer, served as adjunct faculty at a major university, and owned and operated a specialized memory care assisted living. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Western Michigan University. She is a Certified Care Manager, a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer.
Ms. Lacrimosa joined Kimbrough Law in 2022. She has led organizations charged with administering federal grants that fund services for older adults, worked as a patient affairs coordinator for a local hospital, and served as the director of adult daycare centers. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, a Master’s in Education in Adult Education from the University of Georgia, and a Certification at Master’s Level in Gerontology from the University of Georgia. She is a Dealing with Dementia Trainer, a Certified Eden Associate, and graduate of Leading Age Leadership Academy.
