APALACHEE HIGH SCHOOL: BCSS Free Covid 19-Home Test Kit

Apalachee High School issued the following announcement on Apr. 13.

Dear BCSS Families and Staff,

Through a program from the CDC and Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH), each student in our school system will receive a free COVID-19 home test kit. We are planning to distribute tests to students during the week of April 18.

The over-the-counter COVID-19 diagnostic tests are FDA authorized for self-testing at home. This means you collect your own sample, perform the test, and read the result yourself without the need to send a sample to a laboratory.

  • Here is a short video about when and how to use a self-test.
  • If you use the test at home and you get a positive result, please notify your child’s school and follow CDC guidelines.
  • You can save the kit and use it at your convenience when you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

If you do not wish for your child to receive the COVID-19 test, please complete this form before the end of the day on Thursday, April 14 to opt-out.

Thank you,
Barrow County School System
