ACC Transit is encouraging the community to participate in “Week Without Driving,” an initiative aimed at increasing awareness about the challenges faced by people who do not drive. The campaign, scheduled for Monday, September 29 through Sunday, October 5, seeks to help both decision makers and residents reflect on and better understand the experiences of nearly one-third of Americans who do not drive.
According to ACC Transit, Athens’ fare-free transit system may make it easier for participants to take part in this challenge. Community members are encouraged to share their experiences using the hashtag #weekwithoutdriving.
More information about routes and schedules can be found at accgov.com/transit, and users are advised to download the myStop app from their preferred app store.
“Week Without Driving 2025 will take place Monday, September 29th, through Sunday, October 5th and our fare-free transit system makes it easier to accept and succeed in the challenge.”
Participants are invited to reflect on alternative modes of transportation during this period.
